I fully agree with you.

I'm sorry for giving a poor explanation of the technical merits
of a design that is conforming with the requirements of the
data protection directive.

My impression is that there is a significantly different perception
of that value/merit.

Someone who was born blind has difficulties to imagine what it means
to be able to see and therefore doesn't miss it.

An adult who looses eyelight due to an accident will miss it badly.


I'm in favour of strong crypto, strong privacy and strong protection
of personal data.

Don't worry, Steve.  I know some of your publications and have
seen and heard you on several meetings/conferences during 1995-2000.
