Wny not just stick with poster? Because it's more natural than
calling a human moderator "a gateway", so it makes it an easier
concept for people to grasp.
Perhaps the defintion of "poster" should have a final sentence that
says something akin to, 'This is usually the "author", but can be, for
example, the moderator of a newsgroup who has received the submission
via email from the original author.'
