While what you say is true in theory, as a practical matter the
overwhelming vast majority of users are either going to
1. Sign nothing or
2. Sign everything

Very few people are going to sign just the cancels, but not sign
their articles (and in fact I expect very little news software is
even going to offer that option of just signing cancels--people
would have to manually override defaults to get that result).

Consequently your arguments about this are quite irrelevant.
