Sure, but only the more enlightened and interested INN users would bother
to uncomment that control.ctl entry. Whereas what you would really like to
know is how many sites are still using version 1.0.0. But you are not
going to get that information.

I would like to hear if anyone else is interested in retaining this.

I don't think any of these messages could be retained unless/until we have
authentication, so the most I would do at the moment is a pseudo-comment
in our text to review the matter when authentication happens.
