Saying "will be deprecated" is silly -- does that mean we're happy with it
now? If we want to be wimpy about this, we should say "is deprecated, and
will be deleted in a future version". But I favor deleting it now.

Yes. Increasingly I believe that I was wrong to invent message/news.
Let's get rid of it.
