I guess not many newsreaders because the underlying terminal emulators do
not support it. But many printers will support it. For example, on my
Solaris system I do not normally see underlines in a window, except when
using 'more', but the lp command causes them to be printed. Here is some
text for you all to try it on:
foo _b_a_r ___baz
The 'bar' is actually _^Hb_^Ha_^Hr and the 'baz' is ___^H^H^Hbaz.
'more' (also 'page') shows bar underlined, but not baz. 'lp' prints them
both underlined (using 'postprint' and a postscript printer).
Our present text suggests that both should work. Should I change it so as
to encourage the first form?
