The one-character-at-a-time style works just fine in trn. The point is
that readers *should* support this (and the sequence is chosen so that
simple destructive backspacing does no harm). Whether or not to use it
is certainly up to the poster, since it may enhance readability for some
at the cost of reducing it for others.
