Keeping a complete valid list of every newsgroup in *some* hierarchies,
however, is. Exclude alt.*. Or even exclude every hierarchy you've never
heard of. It still would be easy to at least take care of the Big Eight
and the major regionals with something like actsync if you don't want to
handle control messages.
Better protocols and server support would perhaps be good, but really what
we have is entirely adequante to the task if people could see why they
should care.
