Given that the readers use that to mark crossposted articles as read, I
think you have to assume that you want to store it in the article rather
than generate it on the fly each time. The article is in wire format on
most systems (ready to ship to the user), so a read is just "grab and
send" for ARTICLE. HEAD is more costly, you have to read the article.
