You can't get from a storage API token to an overview entry either,
without reading the article and getting the article number out of Xref.

You can't, so far as I know, although I could be missing something. I
need to go look at the new overview implementation in detail again and
make sure I understand it.

About the only time I can think of when a client would get a bunch of
message IDs and be retrieving messages that way is via NEWNEWS. Which
isn't my favorite protocol in the world.
