In my "reference" implemenation (YA-NW) the text is inserted into the
editor window when you reply or start to compose such a message. I'm free
to remove it or alter it as I see fit. Altering the body without my
knowledge or in a surprising way would have made me a bit iffy though.

I disagree, provided behaviour is as mentioned above.
