I think you are incorrect in assuming an absolute right of the poster
to control the mailbox used to post. What if the poster is using a work
mailbox and their employer wants to respond by mail and in the newsgroup?
Or the poster has in some way forefited their normal "rights" somehow?

"Rights" are a social issue not a technical one and should be enforced
(if at all) by social means such as the GNKSA rather than by a technical
standard such as this one.
