I could say "nonsense", but I'll merely say that my experience is
completely the opposite. I don't read any groups where message/partial
occurs, whereas I regularly see it in mail. (Turnpike splits large messages
into pieces and reassembles them (correctly).)
By the way, there is one situation where message/partial is *better* than a
single message. If you have a low-bandwidth link, two TCP channels get
better utilisation of the line than one does. Splitting a large message so
that the parts can be handled by separate SMTP sessions has this result.
