What utter nonsense. Parsing the values in a header is not the same as
determining what those values are. strtok works quite well without any
concern for case-sensitivity. Parsing is not an excuse for this
limitation. The "do something special when it turns up" can just as easily
be based on a case-insensitive comparison, so this "do something special"
part is not an excuse.

Your argument implies that there actually might be a newsgroup named
"Poster" someday. That's also nonsense.

So, can you provide any technical reason at all for this artificial
limitation, or is this just "because we said so"?

If you'd drop the nonsense arguments against it, we might get somewhere.
As it is, there isn't a single person who has come up with a reason to
make the entry case-sensitive, and since it was NOT in the draft as it
appeared at last call, then adding it now requires at least some cogent
argument for doing so. "Because Henry says so" doesn't fit that
requirement.
