Now I understand the problem. John Stanley isn't using the same
language as the rest of us. He writes:

No, changing the meaning of something doesn't change it.

If I read an article, it has some content, and some meaning. If
somebody else then tells me about the biases of the author of that
article, it might well change the meaning of the article. It does
not, however, change the article itself.

Somebody else posting a followup that says that an article is a
forgery changes the meaning of its From header, too, but so what? It
doesn't change the header.
