Yes, and there are still newsreaders that don't understand or generate
things like References: and Followup-To:. Oh well.

Popular newsreaders like Outlook Express have a user-settable option to
generate 7- or 8-bit headers. It is incorrect to draw conclusions about
what newsreaders can display based on what is posted.
