Not at all -- the client should allow more than one method of deciding
whether a message should be treated as part of a particular list. One
of the test should be the presence of the submission address in the
To/Cc headers, which will almost always work. If that's changed the
user needs to take notice of it in one way or another anyway, so it's
not a problem keeping track of it.

Again, the worst thing that can happen is the submission address
changes, at which time the user simply updates that and is done. He
may have to update other things (i.e. the filters that put the messages
in a particular folder), but that can be a separate issue (and often
is).

Clive was using Mutt when he did his "group" reply, I suggest that he
takes a look at these two articles:
