Personally, I prefer to firmly adhere to traditional English grammar --
in which split infinitives were not common but were known to unashamedly
occur now and then -- rather than to blindly follow the new-fangled
dictates of Victorian grammarians, who decided to strictly outlaw split
infinitives because of a ridiculous and insupportable analogy to Latin.
