I'm game to help at least. I'm getting more and more persuaded that this
is the best solution. And everything you say about the Newsgroups header
being fundamentally broken is entirely correct.
I know there are a few other NNTP extensions that people are working on
drafts for so that something will be relatively complete and ready for
discussion as soon as the new base document is finished.
