I.e, it's ok if it breaks something for everyone else as long as you get
what you want.

I've been watching this debacle going on for some time now, and I cannot
help but recall the Chairman's injunction against discussing new things.
This isn't only a new thing, but it is pretty clear that there isn't
anything close to a consensus as to what will or will not break depending
on which of the eightyleven versions of encodings might finally get
a consensus to be used. If ever.
  
It certainly looks like it is time to drop this discussion and those parts
of the draft that deal with the subject. Or keep discussing it until 2007.
