Inline PGP signing in a text only environment

I'd be interested to here the prevailing viewpoint on the use of pgp/gnupg
to sign usenet messages inline in a text only environment where MIME isn't
appropriate.

Current RFCs mention signatures in a contradictory way with RFC 1855
defining signature as a personalised marking and RFC 2440 defining it as a
cryptographic verification key when applied to a pgp signature. Deliberate
confusion can arise where people wish to cause disruption and a flamewar on
this point, perhaps it should be clarified ?

Wuh, I think so, Brain, but how will we get three pink flamingos into one
pair of Capri pants?
