In the particular case I have in mind, one person (who has a reputation
for using broken software) truncated a Subject header. Lots of people
participating in the thread then commented upon the various ways in which
various agents had or had not mangled it further or split the thread or
whatever. Nothing to do with my own newsreader, which did in fact keep it
more-or-less together.
