I gave the example of a robomoderated newsgroup
(soc.singles.moderated) that requires a password in the Subject header
of a person's first post to the group. I also gave the example of
news.admin.net-abuse.sightings that requires a keyword in the Subject
header.
Both of those are example of Usenet software parsing (at least
trivially) the Subject header content and providing visible effects as
a result.
Therefore, it is apparently not wrong for Usenet (or other netnews)
software to act based on some structure it might find in the Subject
header.
