No, I think you are wrong there. The Subject-header is still syntactically
"unstructured", and therefore RFC 2047 encoding may be applied anywhere
within it, including any "Re:", "cmsg", etc.
It might well be unwise to encode a "Re:", but it is certainly legal, and
USEAGE includes a warning that any encoding should be undone before
looking for a "Re: " (or indeed before doing any sorting of Subjects,
etc.).
BTW, the copy of your message I am replying to was actually the one
submitted via gmane. It seems that it was received by rkive.landfield.com
last Wednesday (well, it was still Tuesday over there), but it was not
released from rkive.landfield.com until Sunday. That suggests to me that
is sat there awaiting some manual action by Kent.
You might do better if you were to subscribe your usual mailing address to
the list, rather than relying on reading it through gmane. AFAIK, the
usual majordomo "subscribe" command is still working.
OTOH, John Stanley seems to get his messages accepted, even though he is
not subscribed to the list, so there must be some sort of whitelist in
operation as well as the subscription list. Come to that, I am not
subscribed under the address from which I post.
