I believe you may have missed something -- I'm certainly not in favor
of imposing structure on Subject (I've tried it, and it leads to too
many problems), and I'm pretty sure John isn't either.

And indeed if you think about it a bit you may realize that you have
found a way to begin an article's Subject (for some definition of
begin) with "cmsg" without triggering the gateway Bogeyman. And
without "Re:".
