Subject: Regarding whois query in xml format

|
| Hello all,
| I am in process of finding the location of a given IP
| address.

do You mean "the country of a given IP"?
or
do You mean "the responsible person of a given IP"?

Country= simply look at http://countries.nerd.dk
RP= You may use Sam Spade http://www.samspade.org
(or a classical human-readable query ;-)

| So I made some queries to the whois
| servers(using TCP@43), but whatever response I got is
| in human readable text formate.

You're human and You've received human-readable data... ;-)

That sounds good for me,
because the whois-bulk-access
MUST be restricted for anti-spam purposes!

Please, read that document:
http://www.pfir.org/statements/whois-access

| I am not able to parse the response and get the
| relevent information.
|

OT:
I've developed a whois-parser that export the results of a whois query
in XML format and that's running as a secured and restricted-access
web service for internal use only.

BUT, I've intentionally limited my service to serve max 10queries/hour
to avoid *internal* "abuse"...
/OT

| Is there any way to get the response in proper xml
| format. So that I can easily parse it.

???
What are the purposes of that "parsing of whois data"?

| Thanks in advance.
|
| Regards,
| Rajat
|

best regards,
Francesco
