Compiling esnacc 1.7 with recent gcc

Hi,

I would like to test esnacc, I downloaded the 1.7 version from
http://www.digitalnet.com/knowledge/download.htm (I hope it is the
latest one) but I encountered errors while compiling esnacc on GNU/Linux
with various versions of gcc/g++ (4.0.2 and 3.3.6).

These errors are the same as the ones listed in
http://www.imc.org/imc-snacc/mail-archive/msg00415.html
I would like to know whether there are fixed releases of esnacc that
would compile out-of-the-box and, if no, whether the patches listed in
the previous URL are correct.

And what about the "SNACC v1.7 Patch (July 7, 2005)" ? Should it be
applied in all cases ? Maybe there is a stable release that is planned
to regain gcc compatibility and to apply those bug fixes ?

By the way, I am not sure all the docs are up-to-date, is it true that
one can expect esnacc to be able to generate C++ classes from ASN.1
specifications, with read/write encoding ? I have trouble finding
supported encodings: apart from BER, are PER and/or XER available/planned ?

Thanks in advance for any hint,
best regards,

Olivier.
