This is as old a question as the vCard work effort (about three years old).
This is also related to the "presentation versus intent" argument of the
SGML/ODA days.

When we defined the vCard, we said "DEFINITELY, NO" you do not have control
over the presentation of the vCard. As Paul Hoffman and others have voiced,
this continues to be the "right" decision.
