vCard Specifications

Mobile Office Promotion Association (MOPA), which is an industry
consortium in Japan, is reviewing the draft specifications for vCard
MIME and iCalendar of IETF-ASID work group. Comments and questions will
be submitted to the IETF work group shortly. (I was recently assigned
to the chairperson of a work group in MOPA, transferring the
responsibility from T. Sakai.)

A basic question to IMC is whether IMC is planning to update the vCard
Specification to 2.2 in synch with vCard MIME? Current vCard MIME
Specification is not covering 100% of the original vCard
Specifications, e.g., definition of mandatory/optional properties,
conformance. In addition, I am not fully convinced of removing the
CHARSET from vCard Specification. I agree that it does not make sense
in MIME. However, considering vCard exchange by file, CHARSET in
parameters of vCard still makes sense. These are the reasons that we
like to know if vCard Specification will be updated.
