Internet Mail Standards News

The IETF's Internet Fax Working Group has recently released three new documents which help move forward the use of fax over email. "Content Negotiation for Messaging Services based on Email", RFC 3297, describes how Internet fax systems can negotiate content features to achieve the best results for email users. The TIFF-FX MIME registration specifies how to use TIFF-FX, the format used by many Internet fax systems, in email. The Working Group has also produced a new informational document, "Implementers Guide for Facsimile Using Internet Mail" (RFC 3249) to help software and hardware vendors achieve better interoperability for Internet fax.
