"PGP" doesn't produce mail software. The current version is an
independent encrypt/decrypt application which can be used in a somewhat
integrated fashion with other applications, such as email. The new version
is claimed to have a subroutine library which will allow it to be much more
tightly integrated into other applications. I believe it is also supposed
to have extensive MIME support.
I'll leave it to the PGP devotees to fill in (and correct)
additional detail.
